How to Claim AI Training with HRD Corp in 2026

Business team learning to use AI tools together at an HRD Corp claimable AI training

If your company pays the HRD Corp levy, you can train your team in AI without spending extra money. The levy you already pay every month can cover the course fee, and in many cases the daily allowance, meals and transport too.

Many Malaysian SMEs never use their levy. Some think the paperwork is too complicated. Others don't know that AI courses qualify. This guide walks you through the whole process in plain steps.

What "HRD Corp claimable" means

An HRD Corp claimable course is a course run by a training provider registered with HRD Corp. When your company sends staff to one, you can pay for it from your levy balance instead of from your operating budget.

EFXCO Academy is an HRD Corp registered training provider and has been training Malaysian professionals since 2014. Our 2-day AI for Business Teams course (Claude and ChatGPT) is 100% HRD Corp claimable.

Who can claim

What you can claim

Under HRD Corp's Allowable Cost Matrix, a claimable course can cover:

The exact amounts depend on the course type and location, so check the latest Allowable Cost Matrix or ask us. We help every client work this out before they apply.

Step 1: Get a quotation from the training provider

Ask us for a quotation. We send you the three documents you need for the application:

  1. The quotation or invoice for the course fee
  2. The trainer's profile
  3. The course schedule and content

Step 2: Apply for the grant on e-TRiS, before training starts

This is the step most companies miss. You must apply for the grant before the training date. HRD Corp will not approve an application submitted after the course has started.

In your employer e-TRiS account:

  1. Go to Application, then Grant, then Apply Grant.
  2. Choose the scheme HRD Corp Claimable Courses (Skim Bantuan Latihan Khas).
  3. Select EFXCO Academy as the training provider, then the course.
  4. Add the training location, your participants and the course fee.
  5. Attach the three documents from Step 1 and submit.

The training must start within six months of your application date. A Grant Officer reviews it, and you get the result by email and in your e-TRiS inbox.

Step 3: Attend the training

Your team attends the class. At EFXCO, every participant gets a high-end machine, breakfast and lunch, and a printed certificate. For the AI course, they also get a Claude or ChatGPT practice account for 25 days.

Step 4: Submit the claim after training

After the course, submit your claim in e-TRiS with the training provider's invoice and any transport receipts. You have up to six months from the end of the training to submit.

Once the claim is approved, HRD Corp pays from your levy balance. If you chose upfront payment when you applied, part of the fee is paid to the training provider directly.

Why train your team in AI now

AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT can take over hours of routine work every week: social posts, customer replies, quotations, reports. Teams that learn to use them well save 5 to 10 hours each a week. With HRD Corp funding, the training costs your company nothing extra.
